The Swansea Bay City Deal Skills and Talent Programme Team have been collaborating with Dyffryn Amman School in Ammanford to create a pilot work experience programme for year 10 pupils. The project aims to deliver ongoing meaningful work experience, consisting of a timetabled double lesson per week working closely with local employers over the course of a defined 6-week period.

The project will embed work experience fully into the curriculum, allowing the pupils to apply their academic knowledge and skills to real-world problems and challenges. The pupils will work on site with the employers, but also have a classroom element where they will receive feedback and guidance from their teachers and mentors. The project will also create opportunities for the pupils to continue and develop their work experience after the placement has finished, fostering long-term relationships between the employers, the learners, and the school.

The project aims to support young people to develop the skills and talent they need to succeed in the future. The programme also supports employers to engage with education and training providers, and to offer high-quality work experience opportunities to young people.
