Net Zero Wales

Jason was employed by TATA Steel and had a keen desire to enhance his professional capabilities to develop his career and secure his future with the company. He enrolled on the N0W skills course to access a range of courses tailored to his interests and career goals. Recognising the need to support TATA Steel’s drive towards sustainability and innovation, and secure his own position in uncertain times, he chose Introduction to Electric Arc Furnace Operations, Fossil Free Steel and Materials for Energy from the suite of fully accredited courses offered by N0W skills.

Jason’s comprehensive approach to learning and the courses he chose meant he expanded his skill set and he is now equipped with a better understanding of initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact and enhancing energy efficiency at TATA Steel. This desire to learn and the access to practical and accessible online N0W courses has not only aided his own development but has provided a direct and positive organisational benefit to TATA Steel as they aim to divest into more sustainable approaches to steel production.

“The self-paced study was great as I could study around my full-time job. The case studies were also very good and interesting. The assignments also further enhanced my knowledge of the subjects as it required an amount of research.”

“The next major industrial challenge is decarbonisation and the focus on skills in this area is critical to the success of Wales’ ambitions to reach Net Zero. It is readily acknowledged that the identification, development, and delivery of skills going forward will be essential in achieving the decarbonisation aspiration so that the current workforce and businesses remain competitive.” Dr. Khalil Khan project Co-ordinator for NOW Skills
