How Green Was My Valley

The ‘How Green Was My Valley’ project has had a meaningful and positive impact, successfully achieving its core objectives, including upskilling educators, PGCE students and pupils in schools across South Wales in digital competencies whilst raising awareness of Net Zero and the circular economy. The project, which utilised Minecraft for Education, has played a pivotal role in creating pathways from education to key sectors such as digital, construction, and energy. The outcomes achieved have already had a lasting effect, and ongoing monitoring has helped ensure the project’s full potential has been realised.

"Participating in this project has been an incredible opportunity. The digital skills my class and I have gained, along with a deeper understanding of sustainability and Net Zero, have not only enriched my teaching but have opened up exciting new learning opportunities for my pupils. It's been an inspiring and transformative experience." J. Thomas (Teacher), Model CIW Primary School, Carmarthen

"Although we faced some initial challenges with participation numbers, the flexibility to adapt our delivery model to an online platform allowed us to keep the project progressing successfully. We were able to continue upskilling educators and raising awareness of Net Zero and the results have been incredibly rewarding for both educators and students alike. The platform's training and learning resources being readily available for Welsh educators to utilise has been a great legacy of the project." Ryan Evans, Project Lead, Aspire 2Be
