The Skills and Talent Programme of the Swansea Bay City Deal is a £30 million project that aims to enhance the skills and employability of thousands of people in South West Wales.   The programme has financially supported 19 projects, each one offering a different opportunity to learn new skills in schools; new qualifications in colleges or new short courses and micro credentials through our Universities to support our Industries across the region.

 

The Pilot Projects approved to date are:

· Developing a learning pathway in Engineering and IT fields

· Pembrokeshire Passport to Employment

· Low Carbon Net Zero Awareness Raising

· Nurturting Health and Wellbeing in a Digital world

· Careers in the Digital Sector

· 21st Century Skills

· Battery Manufacturing Skills

· Net Zero Wales Skills

· Net Zero : How Green was my Valley

· 5G Technologies Training

· Future Skills for Land & Sea

· Construct Net-Zero Cymru - Not Business as Usual

· "Futurescape: Building the Next Generation"

· VR/AR Technologies Training Project

· Advance Industrial Drone training

· SPARC

· AGOR skills – Sport Health and Wellbeing

· Fit for Offshore Renewables Wales

· Energy Transition Hub

The programme has also supported the development of a brand new apprenticeship programme for User Centred Design, that covers level 2 to 6. The initial cohort of students have already started their apprenticeships with Gower College Swansea and the Degree Apprenticeship will be starting soon with University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

The programme will run until 2027 and there is still funding available for the development of  new pilot projects for any of the following priority sectors:

 Manufacturing; Digital, Health; Energy or Construction.  The pilot projects can include sectors new courses; upskilling of existing workforce or new training for school leavers etc.
